"Dear Sambiya River Lodge;

As you know I have been a regular at the Sambiya River Lodge every winter for the past 10 years.

You could say there are two reasons I come. The fishing at Murchison Falls is the greatest. I fish all over the world and I should know. One hundred pound Nile Perch are regularly caught (and returned) and the scenery is simply spectacular.

Then, of course, there is the Lodge. Your manager, Beatrice, is always attentive to our every need and your cook, Tony, is outstanding. All of the staff is first-rate and they do a great job of organizing transport for us, as well as bait men and box lunches . . . everything necessary to make for a successful fishing safari. We wouldn't stay anywhere else since clean sheets and a shower are mighty welcome in the bush.

Your office staff in Kampala is also very helpful in relaying messages and making arrangements to greet us at the airport in Entebbe.

Thank you for all your past assistance and you can be sure we will be back!"

"We live in East Africa and visit many parks and lodges. Sambiya is certainly the most restful we have come across! It is cleverly located in unspoilt bush but with easy access to the Nile. The lodge itself is wonderfully simple in layout and decor - not overdone like so many lodges. AfriTours got us there safely and efficiently and arranged all the trips we wanted - bird watching, game drives, a cruise up the Nile to the Falls, and chimp tracking."

"The lodge is a kind of heaven. The dining room looks out over a wide bank forested with Accacia trees. In each one a city of Black Headed Weaver birds busy themselves with weaving grass for their nests. Otherwise, its silent.

There’s the lodge’s small river further into the wild garden, but it’s better to swim in the blue pool along from the lounge with its massive thatched roof. The pool is especially useful after a long game drive on the north bank of the River Nile where the bush is dotted with large borasus palm trees which the driver told us were ‘planted by elepahts’. Unlike other game parks, the game drives are not the only activity to enjoy. The launch tour will takes you up river to the Murchison Falls themselves and then back between huge schools of hippos and some how less friendly looking crocs. The myriad of birds to be seen is outstanding. Along the banks to drink are the palm-planting elephants lining up to snort up their share of the epic Nile. Having come from Kenya I was delighted to find several news species such as the Shoebill Stork as well as old favourites among the hornbill, bee eater and kingfisher clans".

"I was finally invited to fish Murchison Falls this last Feb/2006 by James Moorhouse and we had a blast. As you know Jim has been fishing Murchison for perch for about ten years so I have seen many pictures and heard many stories. The fishing was as hot as the weather, we arrived at the end of a drought and the beginning of the long rains.

The main goal was to catch the fish but just as spectacular was the bird life and all the other animals that I had never seen. Africa and Sambia Lodge will always be remembered as a kickass destination and I hope to make many more return trips."

"Sambiya River Lodge has always held a special place in my heart. For many years it has been that beautiful and peaceful place to escape to. Somewhere to sit, relax and enjoy the hypnotic and tranquil sounds of nature - uninterrupted. It is a world where nature and humanity can co-exist. Sambiya is one of those special gems where luxury, quality and service are ever-present while still allowing one to enjoy Africa in its natural state. The Nile Cruise, conveniently close, is by far one of the most relaxing and informative adventures you may experience while visiting Sambiya!
